Sunday School Starts Soon- It all kicks off on September 10th at 10:00 a.m. Be there!
Child Safety Meeting- At CCC we are committed to the safety of our children. For this reason, everyone who works with children is required to attend a yearly Child Safety Training. This training will occur SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 17th following worship. If you cannot make this meeting a make-up meeting will be scheduled for later this fall. Contact Pastor Devyn with any questions.
Clothing Drive- CCC’s drive for fall and winter clothing will continue until the end of September. Please bring in men’s, women’s and children’s seasonal clothing to donate to Rising Hope Mission. Contact Rob Ericson or Martha Reitman if there are any questions.
Carnival Time! Did you know that over 100 people attended last year’s Bible Times Carnival?! Your help is needed on Sunday, September 24 after worship. Supplies and instructions will be provided, but volunteers are needed to help with games and other activities. Contact Pastor Devyn or Ruth Kendrick to assist.
Painting Date – There will be a group painting the basement on Tuesday, September 12 at 10:30 a.m. Volunteers are appreciated, contact Pastor Ryan.
The Funding Finish Line! $11,831 has been raised through September 3!
The church renovation has entered it’s final stage..and we need your help to finish strong.
A $5000 dollar-for-dollar match has been offered to kick-start fundraising for the basement project-based sure to give before Labor Day. $15,000 is needed to complete everything.
Projection/sound systems and basement work remain (flooring, doors, windows,paint, and furniture)
The rest of the church-wide project is either complete or funded and awaiting completion.
Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 pm Community Covenant Church provides a Homework Help Club (HHC). Students kindergarten thru 6th grade who need a little extra help to succeed in school are paired with a qualified volunteer adult who helps them complete homework as well as work on basic skills like reading, math and spelling.

Homework Help Club for the 2015-2016 school year begins Wednesday October 21st at 6:30 pm.
Homework Help Club follows Fairfax County Public Schools calendar and emergency closures.
Thank You! A huge thank you to everyone who made the Bible Times Carnival such a wonderful success! A great time was had by all and we look forward to a bigger and better time next year. Thank you, also, to Tim Strunk, Ben Packard and Pastor Ryan for installing the nursery carpet in time for the fall activities.
Neighborhood Playgroup – The neighborhood playgroup runs Fridays from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Join kids from the neighborhood and their parents, grandparents and caretakers for a time of open play in the church nursery. Questions? Contact Pastor Devyn.

Covenant Crafters – Bring your craft projects and join us on Saturday, September 27 starting at 3:00 p.m. Those who do not craft but wish to join in are welcome. If you want to just join us for dinner at about 6:00, please do. Jigsaw puzzles and other games are available for the non-crafters. Gearing Up for Fall – There are several ways to help with church ministries this fall! Volunteers are welcome and encouraged in any area, but there is a specific need in the following ministries:
1. Audio/Visual assistant before and/or during the worship service
2. Usher and greeter on Sunday morning
3. Youth Sunday School teacher or assistant
4. Homework Help Tutor on Wednesday nights

Child Safety Training – A child safety training will be held on Sunday, August 23rd after worship. All adults working with children or youth are required to take this refresher course once a year. Those new to volunteering should also attend. If you are unable to make the meeting, another training will be held later in the fall. A Night with Table Covenant Church – An evening of food, conversation and an opportunity to hear how you can be a partner in launching this new congregation in Fairfax City. The event will be held on Sunday, August 23rd at Community Covenant. The meal will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a short presentation to follow. Childcare is provided. RSVP to PastorRyan1@gmail.com
Church Meeting – A congregation-wide meeting will be held on Sunday, June 21st after worship. There will be ministry updates, a proposal to support a medical clinic in the Congo, and a vote on individuals for church leadership. All are encouraged to attend; voting is limited to church members.
Esther Extravanganza – Join CCC in worship on June 28 as we end the Old Testament journey through The Story. The Jewish festival of Purim, which recounts the story of Esther, will be celebrated. Special food will be served, donations taken for the poor, and children and adults are welcomed to dress as a character from Esther (i.e. Queen Esther or King Xerses).
Nationals Baseball – A few tickets are left for the Community Covenant’s trip to the Nationals Baseball game on the 4th of July at 11:00 a.m. Contact Nelson Hastings to reserve your ticket.

Wear Red! – You are invited to continue the tradition of wearing red for worship on Pentecost Sunday, May 24th. Red symbolizes the Spirit who came like tongues of fire on the disciples in the upper room and who fills God’s church today with life and joy.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame – A group from CCC will again be going to the Washington National’s game on Saturday, July 4th at 11:00 a.m. Contact Nelson Hastings soon to reserve a seat (naah96@verizon.net).
Relay for Life – CCC will be participating in the West Springfield Relay for Life supporting the American Cancer Society. There are three ways to get involved: 1) Join the walking team beginning on June 13th at 7pm at West Springfield High School and walk as long as you are able; 2) Purchase a luminary in honor or memory of a friend or family member for a suggested donation of $10 or more; or 3) Come on the 13th to cheer the team on. Dedication Today – After worship, CCC will be dedicating the lending library and picnic grove in honor of Bob Ericson. Bob, son of Rob and Becky, grew up here at CCC and passed away last spring. Join us for the prayers of dedication and a light lunch in the picnic grove.
