Operation Christmas Child

This fall, our church will be packing boxes for Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse, which sends these gifts to children in need around the world.  Individuals and families are encouraged to pack a shoe box full of gifts and practical items for a child of a certain age.  You may bring individual items to assemble in our boxes during the Sunday School hour on November 24th.  You are also free to bring a completed box to worship with you on the 24th.  For more information on the boxes, visit:   www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php/occ

Clothing Drive

Rising Hope Mission is in need of men’s and children’s fall and winter clothing and shoes.  Bring your donation to church during the coming weeks.  See Rob Ericson for more details.

Missions Weekend Planning

On November 16-17, Community Covenant welcomes Joe & Tammy Faulkinbury, directors of the Mountain Mission Bible Camp.  We need your help to plan weekend events!  A first meeting will be held in the fellowship hall on October 6th after worship

Volunteers for Nursing Home

Beginning in September, Community Covenant will begin hosting worship services at Arden Courts Nursing Care Center.  The service will occur on the first Sunday of the month at 3:00 p.m. and involve about 30 residents and their families. Volunteers are needed to set-up, greet, and read scripture.  Commitment is one hour monthly or every other month; speak with Pastor Devyn if you are interested in being part of the team.

Gearing Up for Fall

Ministries are in need of volunteers as they start again this fall.  Areas in need of assistance include ushers/greeters, music, children and youth ministry, missions connection team, and fellowship events.  If you would like to help in any of these areas, please see the council person responsible or speak with a pastor.

Bring in a Backpack!

Bring in a backpack to help a student start the new school year right!  Rising Hope Methodist Mission provides school supplies for children in need each August, and you can again provide a pack for those supplies.  Bring a new backpack by August 11th; a collection bin will be in the church sanctuary.  School supplies of all types are also accepted.

Nursing Home Worship

On Sunday, June 2nd, Community Covenant will be holding a worship service for the residents of Arden Courts (7104 Braddock Road, Annandale), a memory assistance facility. The service will begin at 3:00 p.m. and last approximately 30 minutes. Individuals and families are needed to help greet the residents, pass out materials and/or read scripture. Please contact a pastor if you would like to help.

Food Drive Help

Two opportunities to help Rising Hope with a major food drive are just around the corner. On Saturday, May 11th, volunteers are needed to help pick up and unload all of the food. This will require heavy lifting and require going up and down stairs. They will pick up the food from Hybla Valley Post Office around 5:00, return to Rising Hope and unload it all into the food pantry. On Monday, May 13th they will organize and stock the food on the shelves at Rising Hope. Please contact Martha Reitman for more information.

Clothes Closet at Rising Hope

>Volunteer this Saturday, March 23rd to help sort clothes for the clothes closet at Rising Hope. A group will be meeting at Community Covenant at 3:00 p.m., or you can meet at Rising Hope at 3:30 p.m. See Pastor Ryan for more details.
